Spring Technical Training

In response to the current CDC recommendations, all technical training will be done virtually and not in the branches as advertised. To participate in the technical training you will need internet access and a device with speakers. You can participate with any PC. Laptop, Tablet or Smart Phone with internet access. We will be using an app/program called ZOOM which is free to download. This allows two way communication, just as if you were in the classroom.
Instruction for using ZOOM will be emailed to each student 48 hours before the schedule class start

Course Information

Infinity Greenspeed / Evolution Variable Speed Systems

We will cover installation of the outdoor unit, indoor unit, and User Interface. We will discuss features and functions of the system and how to ensure proper airflow and understand the critical charging of these systems. We will cover troubleshooting error codes and steps in determining the source of the error code.

This class is designed for installation and service personnel.

This class is one of the requirements for dealers to purchase Carrier and Bryant Variable Speed products.

Carrier/Bryant Zoning and Duct Diagnostics 

We will cover the different types of zoning. What zoning can and cannot do. Installation, setup and operation of the Infinity zoning system. We will discuss bypass dampers and its effects on system operation. We will discuss duct diagnostics. What should you set your ductulator on when sizing duct?

Residential Airflow Charging and Start up

Airflow is one of the most important factors to system performance, charging, and system capacity with todays advanced systems.  Using the industry’s “Best practices” and proper startup techniques are paramount to ensure the comfort, capacity and reliability of the system performance to be delivered to the homeowner. This training will teach you how to measure and calculate airflow, once verified we will discuss system charging and understanding superheat and subcooling. We will then learn how to use this information to calculate the system performance.

This class is designed for installation and service personnel.

  • Basic airflow measurement for heat pumps and gas furnaces
  • Refrigerant cycle, sub-cooling / super heat

Basic Electricity/Residential Low Voltage

Understanding low voltage wiring and controls is the foundation to troubleshooting electrical issues. This class is designed for the entry level individual with little to no experience in the HVAC industry. We will discuss the basics of electricity and low voltage wiring and controls of a basic system. Covering the components and the purpose of switches, pressure switches and limits in a control circuit. The participants will get hands on experience in creating and wiring a simulated system, plan to work.

This class is designed for installation and service personnel with very little experience

Carrier Open Controls/Zoning Class


This class is an entry to Carrier’s current Open controls product. This one-day class will acquaint the student with the tools and methods required to install and commission Carrier product-integrated controls. These controls include the Carrier RTU Open Controller that can be factory-installed on most rooftop units up to and including 20 Tons, and the VVT/VAV zoning controls. The class will also cover the use of factory-installed programmable Universal Protocol Converters (UPC).

This class is not associated with the Carrier Controls Expert program.

This class we will cover the common components that make up the current light commercial line of RTU’s and Split System. In the class will break down the components in details covering operation and trouble shooting. The class will introduce the new Eco Blue Carrier line of RTUs.
